2020年最影响我的大概是微博在疫情期间发挥的作用,#新冠肺炎求助通道#在发起后的短时间内快速的通过媒体、社群、明星扩散获得大量关注,纵然铺天盖地的疫情信息会使人恐惧,但也因此有了更多温暖人心的时刻被微博记录下来,使人们聚拢在一起帮助了更多患者。

What inspired me the most on social media in 2020 is how impactful social platforms have been during the pandemic. For example, the COVID Help Channel service on Weibo supported people to communicate their difficulties or find resources. After its launch by Weibo, the initiative quickly got lots of attention in society through media, community, and celebrity distribution. During the difficulties of the pandemic, this service acted as a place to light up the darkness in people's hearts with positive and heartwarming messages. Thanks to this, many warm moments were captured and reminded, and people gathered together to help in these difficult times.

2020年因为疫情每天抱着手机刷刷刷的时间又大大大的增加了,今年我的感受就是:永远追不上的热点,与吃不完的瓜。双十一大家还在忙着“买买买”的时候,一条10秒的微笑视频席卷抖音和微博热搜榜,一夜之间,丁真迅速走红成为旅游形象大使,开始了宣传家乡,脱贫攻坚之路。“丁真效应”开始生效,引发了各地文旅官号的battle大战,丁真的出现不仅为全国人民打开了文旅新世界的大门,也不禁让人感叹如今无论在哪双向的交流都是如此的便捷与广泛,也使得在家憋了一年的我直呼太美了无论是景色还是人。

Because of the pandemic, we have spent much more time on our phones, constantly seeing new hot topics and social events. On Double-11, everyone was surprised how a 10-sec video of a young farmer, Ding Zhen, took all attention on Douyin and Weibo. Less than a night, Ding Zhen became a well-known public figure and ambassador of local tourism. Several traveling accounts battled to get him into their marketing campaigns. The emergence of Ding Zhen not only opened up new opportunities for tourism in his region, but I was amazed to see how social media, regardless of where you are, can connect people. At a time when we're staying at home, the beautiful landscape and the personality of Ding Zhen were truly inspiring.

2020年6月2日,几乎所有国外的社交媒体账号(如Instagram/Twitter)都被黑色的图片所吞没。5月25日,美国明尼苏达州白人警察涉嫌暴力执法致死黑人男子乔治·弗洛伊德在美国引发了轩然大波,抗议示威活动扩散至全美乃至全世界。#BlackoutTuesday 作为抗议种族歧视和不平等对待的话题,在各大社交媒体引起热议。美国各界名人纷纷响应,在自己的社交媒体账号发布纯黑色的图片,并配以“Black Lives Matter”一类的标签和相关文字以示支持。

如今,社交媒体强大的社会穿透力,使得其逐渐渗透至我们生活的每一隅,影响我们的一切。在社交媒体的新时代,人人都可以是内容提供者和行动参与者。不同于其他线下形式的游行示威,社交媒体上的抗议活动没有过多的喧哗和混乱,通过整齐划一的发布形式和内容让这次事件的声量和影响力提升至巅峰。

而正是因为不同于往常社交平台的内容调性,才使得这种发声更为突出和有力。社交媒体的多样性和包容性,让它此刻不再仅限于日常生活和八卦娱乐的分享。当社会事件在社交平台不被限制地传播和讨论时,当用户在这个时刻拥有表达权力和空间时,社交媒体此时所拥有的文化精神和力量,才是用户长久以来愿意使用并依赖其平台的核心原因之一。

June 2nd, 2020 is a day to remember. During this day, nearly all international social media accounts turned black, inspired by the day when George Floyd was violently killed by a cop in Minnesota. The protest and demonstration for Black Lives Matter quickly became an international demonstration, where the social media topic #BlackoutTuesday raised awareness about inequality and racial discrimination. Celebrities in the US responded by publishing pure black images on their social media accounts to show support.

Nowadays, social media has become so powerful and impactful in society, penetrating every aspect of our life. In the new era of social media, everybody can be a content creator or participator. Compare to other forms of protests, social media protest is less chaotic and noisy. It makes its impact through a clean and efficient form of communication and distribution that maximizes its influence. Unlike the normal content style of social media, this movement makes itself so strong and powerful that it reminds us how impactful it can be as a tool for public demonstration. 

The diversity and inclusiveness of social media make it more than a sharing platform of daily life and gossips. When social events are distributed and communicated limitlessly on social media and users are rightful to speak, that's when social media truly showcase its spirit and influence.

2020印象最深刻的是抖音上大火的丁真,一条没有展示才艺,没有搞笑剧情的视频火的一塌糊涂,丁真意外因清澈的眼睛和高颜值受到网友追捧。我认为高颜值已经是当代年轻人重要的价值观之一,当代年轻人更愿意为高颜值狂热及消费。同时由于当代社会带给年轻人的物质压力和消费观念,让真实自然的人或事物成为年轻人追捧的核心。当代年轻人更多的还是羡慕像丁真、李子柒镜头里呈现的生活状态,并不是真的追求真实本身。

The most memorable social media moment to me is Ding Zhen, a social media star who became incredibly famous on Douyin recently. Surprisingly, just a video of him smiling with pure eyes and good looks, without participating in any talent shows or famous events, went viral and made Ding Zhen a well-known public figure on social media. This makes me reflect on the young generation's fanaticism for pretty looks and their willingness to spend time and energy to seek it out. Also, due to the consumption frenzy nowadays, young people are keener for natural things and people. The idea of being real, pure, and natural is what young people value. Young generations are passionate about the kind of natural lifestyles revealed by social media stars like Ding Zhen, and Li Ziqi. However, they are not really after the reality or authenticity itself.

2020年令我印象最深的社交媒体时刻是b站在五四青年节发布了短视频《后浪》,这是一部献给年轻人的演讲视频。也许正因为我也是年轻人中的一员,观看时感觉热血沸腾,引起共鸣。而这个视频被大家疯转到朋友圈的时候,也感觉自己的世界被主流逐渐认同。同时激励到了我,不得不喝下这一碗“鸡汤”继续前进着。

The most memorable moment to me on social media in 2020 would be the short video <young waves> released by Bilibili during the youth festival on May 4th. This is a speech created for enthusiastic younger generations. Maybe because of being part of the younger generation, I could feel the strong resonance and also enthusiasm running through my veins when I was watching the video. After the video was widely distributed on WeChat moments, I could also feel how the world of mine and the value of younger generations is recognized step by step by the majority, which also inspired me in many ways and encouraged me to keep fighting.
