WeChat launches a new social commerce platform

Tencent’s latest push into the e-commerce space is a WeChat mini-program called Xiao’e Pinpin which lets WeChat’s 1.1 billion users buy lifestyle products directly in the app. Like the group discount app, Pinduoduo, Xiao’e Pinpin’s group-buying feature allows one user to form a “group” and invite their contacts for discounted purchases.
